How Does CMOS Work?

Imagine a light switch: a light can either be on or off. CMOS technology uses similar “on” and “off” states to control the flow of electrical signals in electronic circuits.

Two types of transistors: CMOS uses two types of transistors:

When they are not doing anything (i.e., when they are in the “off” state), they don’t use any power, which makes CMOS chips very energy-efficient.
